We went here before a concert and it was an amazing experience. We had reservations just in case but there was space available when we got there. We sat at the bar and the service was amazing. We enjoyed the cocktails we ordered and the bartender was very helpful and friendly. The tapas were served as they were getting ready being the octopus the last dish we got. We tried the spicy lamb sausages, patatas ajoli, beet salad, crab stuffed piquillo peppers, pan con tomate and the octopus. Our favorite dish was the beet salad and the spicy lamb sausages. Everything was excellent and delicious and very delicate presentation. Very well seasoned and made with love for sure, hats off to the chefs!!! We really enjoyed every single dish and we will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu. We saw the paella in one table and we felt that it will be one of our next choices when we go back. Overall a great experience and I highly recommend it

Was in town for an event and absolutely loved the food! Seafood Paella was delicious, large portion, filled with seafood, and the rice was perfection. Also loved the salad with beets. Really nice flavors! Calamari was good, slightly small portion sz, but the breading was just right and the dipping sauce was fantastic! Churros for dessert can not be missed! Service was impeccable! Waitress and hostess both were so gracious and personable. You could tell they really care! Will definitely be back whenever I'm in town! Go alone or with friends! This was my favorite meal in Durham!

Grilled octopus here is SO delicious we ordered a second serving. Ambient candle-lit tapas atmosphere, delightful red sangria to pair with the dishes. Loved the Oyster Mushrooms and Kale, grilled cauliflower, Spanish bruschetta, Grilled Octopus *** (must have), and the sangria. Spanish Cheese plate could be skipped. Try something else from the menu instead! Not enough bread : cheese ratio (low on bread), and the cheeses felt very very similar. And it was than most other tapas. It’s a bit loud, even late at 8:30pm. But this seems to be a theme for Durham restaurants. However, otherwise it’s a really nice atmosphere to be in! For the price, while the waiter was super nice, the service was a bit inattentive. They left the dirty plates on our table for a long time and we had to flag down different waiters to order more. Did not need a reservation on a Friday night. Impressive wine & beer & sider & cocktail selection. Several vegetarian options. Better if you eat sea food too. The good news is that 100% of the items from the veg menu were delish! About 40pp pre-tip

Service is personal and wonderful. Food is delicious. Each Tapa can easily be cut/divided into quarters making it fabulous for a table of 4. Don't miss out on the Dark Chocolate Valencia Ice Cream for dessert. It is amazing!

We had a great experience dining here with friends. They had no problem serving a party of 8 and the food was incredible! I really liked the variety we ordered, and would definitely recommend ordering in multiple rounds. The drinks were also to die for. We will be visiting this downtown Durham gem again soon!

One of the best Tapas bars I’ve ever been. Highly recommend the octopus and churros with chocolate dip. The octopus is crispy outside and chewy inside. Even the tomato at the bottom is delicious. Oxtail is very tender and fatty (in a positive way). Spiro is very nice and introduced his favorite ones as well. He recommended the salmon!

Taberna Tapas is a fantastic spot with a great location and a warm, inviting atmosphere. The full bar is well-stocked, and the bartender was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, offering great recommendations, including a local gin martini that was spot-on. The menu is easy to navigate, featuring a broad variety of dishes, most of which are genuinely shareable tapas. The food arrived as it was ready, ensuring everything was fresh and hot. The Estrella beer on tap was a nice touch, and the spare ribs and tomato on toast stood out as absolute favorites. If you’re looking for a laid-back yet high-quality tapas experience, this place is definitely worth a visit.
